Leo J. Gilbride founded Gilbride Development, LLC, a Colorado company, in 2005 to develop real estate in Grand Junction, Colorado. Mr. Gilbride is a registered professional engineer in the State of Colorado, and holds a B.S. in civil engineering and an M.S. in mining engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration.
Mr. Gilbride graduated summa cum laude in civil engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in 1992, followed by graduate studies at the Mackay School of Mines, University of Nevada, Reno, where he graduated in 1995. While at the University of Nevada, Mr. Gilbride received the 1996 U.S. National Committee for Rock Mechanics M.S. Thesis Award from the National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences, for significant and original research in the engineering field.
Mr. Gilbride's interest in land development began at his family's ranch in California, where, at an early age, he was introduced to construction, road building, and heavy equipment operation. Mr. Gilbride worked full time as an apprentice carpenter prior to attending university, and, while in school, worked as an underground miner in Nevada and commercial fisherman in California.
Mr. Gilbride moved to Grand Junction in 1995 to join Agapito Associates, Inc., an internationally recognized mining engineering consulting firm. During his 12 years at the firm, Mr. Gilbride consulted to diverse clientele in the hard rock, soft rock, industrial mineral, coal, stone, solution mining, and nuclear waste industries. Mr. Gilbride published and presented more than 15 professional papers during his time at the company. In 2001, Mr. Gilbride received the Future Leaders Award from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration for his leadership in the mining profession. Mr. Gilbride was a principal and vice president of Agapito Associates, Inc., and served on the board of directors prior to leaving the company in 2007.
Mr. Gilbride presently lives in Grand Junction with his wife, Karen, and three young children. He is an avid off-road motorcycle rider, ghost town explorer, investor, and traveler with a strong penchant for adventure. Mr. Gilbride is involved with family investments in California and also operates Gilbride Properties, LLC, a rental housing company with properties in Grand Junction.
Mr. Gilbride manages all aspects of Gilbride Development, LLC, from initial project acquisition through planning, design, permitting, financing, construction management, and marketing.
